MARATHON DES ZELLULOIDS

10. IOIC Stummfilm-Festival mit Live-Vertonungen
Kunstraum Walcheturm | Kanonengasse 20 | Zürich
5. – 8. Dezember 2019

Programm als PDF:
https://ioic.ch/event/514

[screening] GRENZBOCK – Filmfestival HOF & BERLIN

GRENZBOCK, Documentary, 80 min (Teaser)

For the last time, Hubertus Meckelmann has the horn sound for a beating-hunt in the wild. The heart of the former parade ground is soon to be off-limits for hunting. For the territories around it, this is an imposition, since the carefully controlled populations of red deer, fallow deer and boar will be completely disrupted.

The return of the wolf cannot alter this, and most hunters in Brandenburg consider it unwelcome there, anyway.
GRENZBOCK accompanies three hunters through their forests and reveals in long, calm shots the worldviews beneath hunter-parlance and loden coats.

synopsis
Alice and Frank move to a new flat in the country with their children. As their day-to-day life takes its course, Alice notices that Frank is worried about something. He only opens up to her gradually and the more he reveals about himself, the less Alice wants to know about the truth.

This is the story of an intense, inescapable confrontation between two spouses, as hidden secrets progressively come to light. In simple, but emotionally dense scenes, the film follows the everyday life of a family, which – initially almost unnoticed – gradually comes apart at the seams as Alice and Frank slide into a deep crisis after 18 years of marriage. Over the period of a year, the film shows the characters with their wishes and limitations. Their helplessness when faced with a truth that throws their previous life into turmoil: Frank feels more and more attracted to a man.
For her debut feature, Claudia Lorenz has worked with a highly distinguished crew and cast. In addition to award-winning co-author Rolando Colla, with female lead Ursina Lardi (TRAUMLAND, AKTE GRÜNINGER, DER VERDINGBUB, DAS WEISSE BAND), male lead Dominique Jann (DIE STANDESBEAMTIN, LUFTBUSINESS) and supporting male Antonio Buil (MILKY WAY, OPERATION LIBERTAD, COEUR ANIMAL) no less than three winners of the Swiss Film Prize are involved.

[screening] die demokratie ist los! – Zürich Film Festival

Europe is in a crisis. On the right fringes of the political landscape, ever-louder anti-European, anti-Islamic and nationalist voices can be heard. These are mingled with the praises of a country that has supposedly done everything right: Switzerland, and its direct democracy. Yet in Switzerland, this direct democracy has reached its boundaries. Called for by the Swiss electorate, such constitutional amendments as the anti-minaret or deportation initiatives contravene the basic principles of internationally recognized human rights conventions. This film explores the call for direct democracy in the neighboring countries of Austria, Germany and France, contrary to the experiences of our country regarding the limitations of such a political system. At the same time, the documentary addresses the question of what actually constitutes the Swiss population, as this proves to be much more heterogeneous than politicians often portray.
